July 3, 2008.
Last night's performances by the YCB were, unfortunately, rained out.  Because numerous YCB members have other commitments for tonight, YCB will NOT perform tonight under any circumstances.

June 29, 2008.
The Band's July 2 8:00 p.m. concert on the grounds of the Lake Shore Apartments will feature band member John Zissis as the trumpet soloist on "Carnival of Venice"; guest artist David Vaughn, bass, with two arias; and the trombone section with two rarely-heard novelty pieces.  For information on getting to and parking at the concert site, see <ypsifireworks.com>.

June 28, 2008.  The Band's 30th anniversary is coming up, and a history of the YCB's first 30 years is in preparation.  Materials (programs, clippings, minutes, etc.) related to the 1979-1998 period are sought.  Anyone with such materials (or leads on where to find such materials) is urged to contact <jerry.robbins@emich.edu>.  At the Band Board's most recent full meeting, Trinka Benedict was appointed as Secretary.  See the '"About Us" section of this web site for a variety of Band governance materials.

June 12, 2008.
Nathan Magyar, one of the world's top young male twirlers, will again appear with the Band at our Heritage Festival concert in August.

June 11, 2008.
Never let it be said we aren't versatile!  When YCB members arrived for the June 10 rehearsal and found Whitmore Lake High School closed for lack of power,  percussion equipment, stands, and chairs were quickly moved to the sidewalk at the east entrance and an outdoor rehearsal proceeded with only a slight delay!  Fortunately, it was a beautiful evening to be outside.  Every thing was put back in storage in only six minutes, thanks to lots of good help.  Trinka Benedict has been named as the Band's secretary.  See other actions of the Board at the June 9 meeting in the "Minutes" section of the "About Us" page on this website.
